Roadmap Consulting
Transport management system (TMS) implementation for UK hauliers, 3PLs and pallet network members

The software is the easy part. Getting the traffic office to trust it is the job.

Your planners keep running the operation. I move the data, set up the rates and train the team around them, one depot at a time. One named, independent consultant, from the first call to the first clean invoice run.

A 30-minute chat about your operation, then a written plan in your inbox within two working days: what to do next, the main risks, and what your vendor will leave to you. Yours to keep. No cost, no commitment. See a sample plan (PDF, 1 page)

Three kinds of work, one aim: a TMS your planners trust

Getting a new TMS live

I set up your new transport management system depot by depot, from scoping to the 90-day check.

  • Planning the switch from your old system
  • Moving your customers, subbies, rates, fleet and drivers into the new system
  • Setting the system up, training your team and supporting go-live

Connecting your systems

I link the TMS to the other systems your operation relies on.

  • Pallet networks such as Palletforce and Palletline
  • Invoicing, accounts and backing sheets
  • Automatic data sharing with customers and subbies

Reports and time-saving tools

I build tools on top of your TMS, so the right people get the information they need.

  • Operational reports without waiting on IT
  • Ask AI about today's jobs in everyday words and get a straight answer
  • Less repetitive admin for your traffic office
Approach

How a depot goes live

Every depot goes live the same way, so the tenth is as well run as the first.

  1. Scoping

I learn how the depot plans, prices and invoices today, including the workarounds.

You get: a written plan for the depot

  2. Data

I collect your customers, subbies, fleet and drivers, then clean and check the data.

You get: a checked data file, ready to load

  3. Rates

I set up rate cards, fuel surcharge and self-billing, and check them against real jobs.

You get: rate cards tested against last month's jobs

  4. Build

I set up networks, paperwork and links to other systems, then test them.

You get: a tested system, signed off by your planners

  5. Parallel run

You run the old and new systems side by side until the numbers match.

You get: old and new invoices side by side, matching

  6. Go-live week

I am on site for the switch, and with your planners through their first Monday.

You get: me on site all week

  7. 90-day check

I check how your team is using it, fix problems properly and leave clear notes.

You get: a written review of what works and what does not

About

Nick Dyson

I was Customer Onboarding Manager at Qargo. I know what a vendor's plan leaves to you, because I used to write those plans. I work independently now.

Already on Qargo? See how I help teams get more out of it.

I am currently rolling out Qargo across the 13 depots of a UK haulage group, from moving the data to go-live.

I work directly with transport managers, planners and finance teams. I also build tools that make each rollout easier to repeat.

Planning a TMS change?

Tell me about the operation and the timeline. Within two working days of our 30-minute chat, I send you a one-page written plan. Yours to keep. No cost, no commitment.

This is for hauliers, 3PLs and pallet network members moving two or more depots onto a new TMS.

The best time to talk is before you sign with a TMS vendor. If you are already part way through, talk to me anyway.
